A very important book that every Hauptwerk user should have
Hauptwerk in practice, dutch book
Since December 2017, a Dutch book about Hauptwerk has been published on the market by Evert-Jan van der Leij. This book is not a translation of the English Hauptwerk manual, but it describes the use of Hauptwerk from a practical point of view. This book discusses the features of Hauptwerk and the components required for a home setup. It is not a computer book, so no installation of Windows, drivers, etc., but a chapter on optimizing a Windows PC for trouble-free working with Hauptwerk. Next, installing and configuring the Hauptwerk program and the sample sets / organs will be discussed. Considerable attention is paid to setting up and adjusting Hauptwerk. Then things are described about working with Hauptwerk, including how to use the 6 available registration tools, the different types of couplers, how to adjust the tuning and pitch, how to make a backup of the sample sets and organs. It also gives attention to common problems and their solutions. One chapter is devoted to solving the problem if the sample set has more keyboards than its own organ: how can you play such an organ flexibly. The book contains procedures for making audio recordings and processing them for an MP3 and/or an audio CD. Correcting the home acoustics and the loudspeaker arrangement are also discussed. In short: with this book an excellent Dutch-language guide to the use of Hauptwerk has come onto the market. Highly recommended for starters, but the book also contains a lot of useful information for advanced students! In order to make optimal use of this book, it is not distributed as a PDF file, but on paper. Browsing the paper version is easier, you can put notes in it, stick memo stickers and put it next to you on the organ bench when Hauptwerk is being configured, for example. The book has 214 pages and is in A4 format, full color, printed on sturdy MC paper, not with glued spine but in a practical ring binder so it stays open. At the back is an extensive index in which almost all English screen texts are also listed: 5 1/4 pages with 2 columns.
